2-Step Authentication Guide

Two-step authentication allows you to add an additional layer of security to your account through a time-sensitive code.

How do I use two-step authentication on my HireHive account?

Two-step authentication adds an additional step to logging into your account for increased security. You can use an authentication app we support to retrieve a code you will need for logging in to your HireHive account. 2 step authentication can be enabled by all user types on Big Hive + plans and is recommended for security.

Setup

Log into your HireHive account and click on Settings, and then click the Manage account button:

In the Two-factor authentication tab, click Configure

Follow the on-screen instructions:

Once you have scanned the code, you will see a confirmation page that includes your backup codes. It is very important to save this backup code in case you need them in the future to log into your account. This safeguards your account in case you no longer have access to the device on which your app is stored. It is best to write this down somewhere safe.

Logging In

Once 2 Step-Authentication has been enabled, the next time you log in you will need to enter a code (which appears in your app) along with your username and password.

Tips

  • Save your backup code – write it down in case you do not have access to the phone that has the authenticator app on it.
  • Using an app is quicker and easier than an SMS code as it allows you to log in from different locations without a time delay.
  • If you are using app authentication and have a new phone without the app installed, you will need to use a backup code to get logged in.

What happens if I get locked out of my account?

In the event you cannot use the authentication method you enabled for 2 Step Authentication to get access to your account, you will need to use a backup code. This is why it is very important that you save your backup codes for situations where you need them to get access to your account.

Contact us at support@hirehive.com if you do not have a backup code and cannot complete the 2 Step-Authentication.
